Wrapping up my first week with Cloth Court Communications. I'm really grateful for them. The beginning of the week I was working on a project for a client that I mentioned in my last post. I finished up the project and looked over it with my boss. She was curious about certain other months or advertisers so I went back and made her a few more charts displaying the information she was looking for. She is going to go back and ad a few of her insights and the project is ready to be presented to the client.
Later in the week I learned how to update their Media System called "MediaKnowHow." They have been running this system selling subsciptions to advertisers for over 20 years. The system is a compilation of media sources that are offering advertising in their publications or on their website. The posts can be searched by buzzwords like 'finance' or 'arcitecture' and a list will be generated all the media out there that has publications or websites involving those areas. From the list you can click a specific publication and find a non-bias description of the media. For example their circulation, readership, demographic, etc. The companies that offer advertising space send out "Media Packets" in which they talk about their company and prices for particular ad placements. I have been in charge to read through them and update the system with the new data. Or if their is a new publication, to add it to the system. Once the system is up to date for that publication the media packet can be filed and last years media packet can be shredded. When I arrived they were really far behind on filing the packets so I got them filed over a period of about three days, in between my other work.
I noticed that a lot of files with media packs they have are really old and spoke to them about it. Most of the old ones are ceased publications so as an ongoing job while I am there I'm going to go through their media packs, research if they are still in publication or not and update the system accordingly.
Also, whenever the post comes, I usually help vouch for our ads and update spreadsheets accordingly.
All in all I am getting some great experience from them. They are all really nice and helpful and I am thankful that they have taken me under their wing.
